Heroes 2.0

This major update focused on improving long-term player engagement by making progression feel more meaningful and rewarding. I worked on updates to the in-game HUD, Player Progression system, and Player Profile, helping shape how players track their growth and express their achievements. Heroes 2.0 also introduced loot chests and a revamped collection system, giving players more ways to unlock content and personalize their experience while reinforcing a broader sense of progress and mastery.
Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard’s take on a team-based hero brawler. It features fast-paced, objective-focused 5v5 matches with characters drawn from across Blizzard’s game universes.
HUD Updates
Event Log
Reworked to highlight exceptional play. While Heroes of the Storm emphasized teamwork, that focus sometimes left high-performing players feeling invisible. The updated Event Log reset its display timer on every kill, allowing streaks to chain together visually. As players racked up kills, the layout became increasingly chaotic, breaking from the standard HUD layout to reflect the energy and impact of a “pop-off” moment.
Party Frames
Redesigned to show clearer, more dynamic information about teammates, including hero choices, status effects, and visibility into enemy data where available. The goal was to improve quick-glance decision-making and coordination, especially in chaotic fights.
Player Profile
Profile SCreens
We redesigned the Player Profile to make it easier to scan, more informative, and more flexible for future updates. Screens were rebuilt using a modular grid system, making it easier for the team to plug in new content or adjust layouts without major rework.
Key updates included a clearer breakdown of hero performance, account progression, and match history, all organized in a way that helped players track growth over time and celebrate their play style.
Hero MAstery Taunts
To give players more visible recognition for their time and skill on individual heroes, we added unlockable taunts that could be used in-game. These taunts were tied to hero-specific progression, allowing players to showcase their experience and express themselves more fully during matches.
Progression
The new progression system introduced account levels, hero levels, and visible milestones across both. These changes gave players a clearer sense of progress and goals to work toward over time. The redesigned Player Profile provided a central hub for tracking match history, hero stats, and customization options.
